In our previous work it has been shown that pulse shapes of coaxial germanium detectors can be exploited to determine the position of the first interaction of detected gamma rays [1]. In addition, artificial neural networks (ANNs) turned out to successfully classify energy distributions among the segments of a subdivided germanium detector. [2]. Currently we combine these approaches to examine the feasibility of an ANN based pulse shape analysis. We present both status and first results of the project.
