Viscosity and Lateral Diffusion in Thin Polymer Films around the Glass Transition — •Marc Hamdorf and Diethelm Johannsmann — Max-Planck-Institut f"ur Polymerforschung, Ackermannweg 10 D-55128 Mainz

We report on the migration and diffusion in thin polymer films. The polymer dynamics is probed via the decay of stamped (migration) and photobleached (diffusion) gratings, when the film is heated to above Tg. The decay of stamped corrugation gratings is biexponential.
The fast process is associated with unrelaxed stress components created during stamping. The second process is driven by interfacial tension and can be used to calculate the film viscosity.
