We propose a general theoretical approach to the calculation of revival structures in the autocorrelation function of multidimensional quantum wave packets. We also consider time–dependent peculiarities of the wave packet averages of physical observables. We use in our analysis multidimensional Taylor expansion for the energy spectrum and multidimensional generalization of the Poisson summation formula. The matrix of the second order anharmonicities contains information about position and form of the quantum wave packet revivals. We analyze the fact that this matrix also carries information about internal energy redistribution between different degrees of freedom. This is entirely a multidimensional effect and it brings new interest to the study of multidimensional revival structures. As a practical example we consider the time evolution of multidimensional nuclear wave packets in three–atomic molecules (HNO, DNO).
