GR: Gravitation und Relativitätstheorie

GR 1: Hawking Radiation, Light Rays in the Gravitational Field

GR 1.1: Invited Talk

Monday, March 15, 1999, 14:00–14:40, AM1

What can we learn about Hawking radiation from 2D dilaton gravity? — •Dimitri Vassilevich — Universität Leipzig, Institut fur Theoretische Physik, Augustusplatz 10, 04109 Leipzig and Department of Theoretical Physics, St. Petersburg University, St. Petersburg, Russia

In this talk I describe the Hawking radiation and the information paradox in a framework of 2-dimensional dilaton gravity. Special attention is paid to the models which can be obtained by a spherically symmetric reduction of higher dimensional models. The path integral measure and some conformal non-invariance effects are considered in detail. The Hawking flux for the case of non-minimal coupling to the dilaton is derived. Contradictions in previous works are explained. I also discuss perspectives and unsolved problems.
