In recent years there is an increasing interest [1,2,3] in low-pressure discharges since they have been used in plasma processing, switches and lasers applications. There are also some interesting physical fenomena concernig the constriction of the discharges that could be one of the simplest forms of self-organisation.We present here the latest experimental results of the oscillations in the low-pressure, low-current discharges in Ar, H2, SF6, and CH4, comparing them with the results of simple model [1]. Digital photographs of the radial spatial distribution of emision from argon discharge was taken by CCD camera through the semitransparent anode. Using our puls-current techniqe we could follow the development of the constriction from Taunsend dark current (diffuse) to the normal glow (constricted) discharge and correlate thise development with the volt-amper characteristic of the discharge.
