Ultrafast Electron Relaxation in Dense Laser Plasmas — •H. Haberland1 and M. Bonitz21Institut für Physik, EMA-Universität, 17487 Greifswald — 2Fachbereich Physik, Universität Rostock, 18051 Rostock

The relaxation of the electron distribution function in a dense hydrogen plasma in the presence of a strong laser pulse is investigated. We solve quantum kinetic equations which include two–particle scattering in an electromagnetic field as well as quantum many-particle effects [1]. Furthermore, the momentum–anisotropy of the electron distribution is fully taken into account (non–perturbatively). The influence of memory effects is investigated [2,3] and, in particular, the effect of the field on the relaxation on the femtosecond scale. Additional effects, such as collisional broadening and field-induced retardation (intra-collisional field effect) are studied in their dependence on frequency and field strength. We report first numerical results and discuss prospects of further research.
