Details on the wetting topology and interface-induced molecular ordering of molecularly thin films of long chain alkanes (14 to 60 C-atoms) at solid/vapor interfaces (oxidized silicon wafer surfaces) are presented. The investigations were performed via x-ray reflectivity, optical microscopy, and surface force microscopy.
