Spontaneous emission effects in quantum dots — •T. Brandes — 1. Inst. f. Theor. Physik, Universität Hamburg

We present theoretical results for transport properties of quantum dot systems in presence of inelastic spontaneous processes such as electron-phonon or electron-photon scattering. We discuss the possibility to observe collective emission effects (superradiance or superfluorescence) in multiple quantum dots or quantum dot arrays. Superradiance is due to collective spontaneous emission and has been observed with real (not artificial) atoms or molecules. We discuss models for oscillatory superradiance [1] and try to transfer these concepts from quantum optics to semiconductors.
