Controlled Electron Dephasing via ’which-path’ experiment in a Mesoscopic System — •Moty Heiblum — Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel

We demonstrate a controlled dephasing of electrons via adding a detector that gives ’which path’ information. We first construct an interferometer that demonstrates electron interference. We then add a detector that senses the electron path. By controlling the sensitivity of the detector we affect, accordingly, as expected, the strength of the interference signal. This leads to better understanding of dephasing in such systems.
