Tunnelling centers in metals as a possible realization of the two-channel Kondo problem — •A. Zawadowski — Institute of Physics, Technical University of Budapest, H-1521, Budapest

The interaction between two-level systems and conduction electrons is reviewed. That problem is scaled to the two-channel Kondo problem. The theoretical results on the two-channel Kondo problem are summarized, the low temperature behavior is not Fermi liquid type. In the recent available experiments the two-level systems are due to impurities in crystals or originated by surface, interface or amorphous regions. The experimental results on nanostrictions and point contacts are compared with the theory. The resistivity of multilayers is also discussed. These experiments provide a strong support for the existance of two-channel Kondo problem in such systems.
