The g factors of the first 2+ states of even-even Kr isotopes have been measured for the first time. For 78,80Kr also g(4+) values were obtained. The structure of Kr is similar to neighbouring Se. Shell closure effects as well as coexisting shapes are the dominant features. Kr beams of 220MeV and 250MeV were provided by the 88" cyclotron of LBL. The nuclear states were Coulomb excited in inverse kinematics with a 26Mg target. The γ rays were detected in coincidence with the forward recoiling Mg ions in Ge or NaI(Tl) detectors. A Si solar cell served as particle detector. Whereas the g factor of 86Kr(2+) is large reflecting proton configurations at N=50 shell closure, the lighter isotopes show smaller values with a definite rise towards the lighter isotopes. This behaviour can be attributed to an increase of collectivity (g=Z/A), however, the larger value of the 78Kr(4+) state is indicative of single particle contributions. + supported by DFG and BMBF
