One of the physic-goals of the ANKE-spectrometer with the proton-beam of the Cooler Synchrotron COSY-Jülich are studies of elementary reactions on an effective neutron-target. By identifying the low energtic spectator-protons from the deuterium cluster target, the reactions on the neutron can be tagged.

The telescope-like structure of several layers of silicon strip detectors provides the ΔE/E-identification of protons and deuterons over a large dynamic range, as well as track information for these particles.

Results of the measurements at the Cologne Tandem-Accelerator with a well-defined proton beam and of a first beam-time at ANKE will be presented. The identification of elastically scattererd protons and deuterons will be used for the absolute luminosity determination. Furthermore it will be shown, how the spectator proton identification will be performed at ANKE in the near future.
