The IH-7-Gap resonators of the Munich Accelerator for Fission Fragments (MAFF) LINAC — •H. Bongers, D. Habs, and O. Kester — Sektion Physik der LMU München, Am Coulombwall 1,D-85748 Garching

Part of the LINAC for MAFF is an Interdigital H-type (IH) energy variable structure, consisting of two 7-Gap resonators, which will be dedicated to vary the final energy of radioactive ions with a mass to charge ratio <6.3. The ions are injected into the first 7-gap IH-structure at two different energies (4.15 MeV/u; 5.40 MeV/u) by the booster LINAC and will then be accelerated or decelerated. This way a range between 3.7 MeV/u to 5.9 MeV/u can be obtained for the final energy. The design of the structure, its current status and the results of the first low level measurements at the 1:1 model will be presented. A similarly designed LINAC also could be used for an upgrade of REX-ISOLDE to higher energies.
