Femtosecond Ultraviolett Pulses Generated at the 2.5th Harmonic of Ti:sapphire Lasers — •Andreas Kummrow, Michael Wittmann, Franck Tschirschwitz, Georg Korn, and Erik Nibbering — Max-Born-Institut, Max-Born-Str.2a, D-12489 Berlin

We studied the generation of tunable ultraviolett pulses using sum frequency mixing of a non-collinear optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) and the fundamental of an 1kHz Ti:sapphire amplified system. We achieved transform limited pulses down to 33fs duration and energy up to 2.6µJ, using crystal angle tuning to compensate angular dispersion of the VIS NOPA. The wavelength is tunable from 315nm to 355nm. Higher output energy (4µJ) is obtained using tilted wavefront pumping.
