The photoluminescence of self assembled GaInAs Ring shaped quantum dots is investigated at 4.2 K under high magnetic fields. The investigated quantum dots are imbededded in a field effect structure. The number of electrons present in such dots can be tuned from N=0 to about 6 by applying a gate voltage ranging from -1 to +0.5 V.

The excitonic emission is measured on a single quantum dot as a function of N. Like in atoms, electron-electron interactions are found to affect drastically the measured optical spectra [1]. The magneto-optical properties of single quantum dots are also measured for different charge states of the dot. The excitonic energy dependence in magnetic field (0 to 9T) is found to be a function of N as well as of the topology of the confining potential.
