Interference phenomena between impurities in d-wave superconductors — •Umberto Michelucci and Arno P. Kampf — Theoretische Physik III, Elektronische Korrelationen und Magnetismus, Institut für Physik, Universität Augsburg, 86135 Augsburg.

We explore the mutual influence of impurity induced structures in the local density of states of d-wave superconductors. From T-matrix methods and the Bogoliubov de Gennes (BdG) equations we obtain the renormalized Green’s functions and the modified local order parameters in the environment of the impurities. Different impurity models – including non-magnetic potentials with finite range and magnetic Kondo impurities – are considered. Non-trivial interference effects are observed between impurities which are not contained in commonly used impurity position averaged self-consistent T-matrix approaches. We therefore use an averaging scheme for the solutions of the BdG equations that preserves these interference effects and discuss their consequences in comparison with experimental data on cuprate superconductors.
