Study of the radial electric and poloidal magnetic fields in fusion plasmas with the Motional Stark Effekt (MSE) in ASDEX Upgrade — •Doris Merkl, Jörg Hobirk, Robert Wolf, Marc Maraschek, Valentin Igochine, and ASDEX Upgrade Team — Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, Boltzmannstr. 2, D-85748 Garching

MSE (Motional Stark Effect) diagnostic utilizes the Stark Effect (fast neutral patricles in a neutral beam experience an electric field E=vxB) to measure the local magnetic pitch angle. Using the measured polarization angles as an additional constraint to an equilibrium reconstruction code like CLISTE the current density profile j(r) and the safety factor profile q(r) can be determined. Local structures in the measured angle profile lead to large changes in the local equilibrium. One interpretation could be the change in the magnetic configuration by MHD activity. Here some examples for a time correlation between local structures in the angle profile and MHD activity and their interpretation in terms of an equilibrium will be presented. Furthermore an outlook on planned work will be given.
