Semi automatic assembly of back-to-back silicon detector modules for the ATLAS experiment — •Carmela Carpentieri — Faculty of Physics, Albert-Ludwig University Freiburg, Herman-Heder str. 3, 79104 Freiburg

The Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) is a part of the ATLAS Inner Detector based upon silicon micro strip detector technology. Each layer of this detector consists of silicon strip modules in which up to 4 single-sided silicon detectors are assembled back to back with a 40 mrad stereo orientation. For the end cap of the SCT it is necessary to assembly  2000 back-to-back modules. The required tolerance is of the order of 5 mm. For this purpose a semi-automatic system for the assembly was developed and several prototypes were successfully assembled.
