Fe-Pt alloy thin films and superlattices are very attractive because of the high magnetic anisotropy in the L10 phase. In this study [Fe(1ML)/Pt(1ML)]n superlattices were grown by MBE on GaAs (001) at different growth temperatures and were characterized by X-ray scattering, Magneto-Optical Kerr effect and Magnetic Force Microscopy. The L10-type structure was determined by X-ray diffraction and the order parameter S was calculated from integrated intensities of the Bragg peaks. It was found that the structural quality increases with increasing of growth temperature and the highest value of S=0.42 was obtained for superlattice grown at 350oC. From polar MOKE measurements it was established that superlattices prepared at 300oC and 350oC are magnetized perpendicular to the surface and the remanence equals 1. From longitudinal MOKE measurements it was found that the in-plane magnetization is practically absent for these superlattices. MFM measurements confirm the MOKE data demonstrating the absence of domains with in-plane magnetization for these superlattices. This work is supported by DFG and SFB 491.
