Electrical characterisation of phthalocyanine thin films — •P.T. Giang, T.U. Kampen, M. Friedrich, I. Thurzo, and D.R.T. Zahn — Institut für Physik, Technische Universität Chemnitz, 09107 Chemnitz, Germany

Thin films of phthalocyanine have been characterised using electrical methods namely current - voltage (IV), capacitance - voltage (CV) measurements. The films were deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates via organic molecular beam deposition (OMBD) in ultra high vacuum (UHV). Immediately after organic deposition different metals (Ag, Al...) were evaporated on the organic layer as top contacts. We found that the work function of ITO substrate was drastically enhanced by an oxygen plasma treatment prior to OMBD and the influence of this treatment on transport properties is evaluated. The characterisation was carried out in situ in the UHV and compared to ex situ (in air) results. The IV, CV characteristics of CuPc films with various thickness and metal contacts will be discussed in detail.
