We investigate phase segregation in thin polymer films composed of two different types of polymer chains covalently bound to a substrate by end-functional groups. The grafting points are randomly distributed over the surface. Two polymers are incompatible and morphology of the film is governed by phase segregation at nanoscopic scale. We expose the mixed brush to solvents of different quality and study the film morphology with AFM and XPEEM. In a non-selective good solvent we observe a No-dqrippleNo-dq structure, in which the different polymers segregate into parallel cylinders. Upon exposure to a selective solvent the film switches to a No-dqdimpleNo-dq structure, in which the unfavored component form clusters. Simultaneously, we observe an enhanced segregation perpendicular to the surface.
