Polystyrene-b-butadiene-b-methylmethacrylate (SBM) triblock copolymers show a surface reconstruction with remarkable analogies to classic single crystal surfaces [1]. For a deeper understanding of this surface reconstruction we investigated other ABC triblock copolymers with different chain topologies and different composition of the copolymers. All polymers used show a lamellar morphology in the bulk of the film, which is aligned parallel to the substrate. Depending on the nature of the end blocks or the block sequences, we find different morphologies at the film surface. If the middle block has a much lower surface energy than the two end blocks, we find a reconstructed surface. Otherwise, if the difference in surface energy is not large enough or the interaction parameter χ between both end blocks gets too high the lamellar structure continues all the way to the free surface.
