Regulation of surface wetting/dewetting with switchable mixed polymer brushes — •Michail Motornov, Sergiy Minko, Mirco Nitschke, Karina Grundke, Klaus-Jochen Eichhorn, and Manfred Stamm — Institut fuer Polymerforschung Dresden e.V., Hohe Strasse 6, 01069 Dresden

Binary polymer brushes composed of two incompatible polymers prepared by both No-dqgrafting fromNo-dq and No-dqgrafting toNo-dq approaches were used for modification of polymer surfaces. It was recently reported that binary polymer brushes have adapting/switching properties (1) based on phase segregation mechanism in the thin polymer film (2). Such thin polymer films can switch their surface energetic state upon exposure to different surroundings. This work report about mixed brushes capable for the switching in the wide range of surface properties from ultrahydrophobic to hydrophilic up to capillary penetration effect.
