Magnetic order in UPd2− xSn — •I. Maksimov1, F.J. Litterst1, S. Süllow1, R. Feyerherm2, and J.A. Mydosh31Institut für Metallphysik und Nukleare Festkörperphysik, TU Braunschweig, Germany — 2Hahn-Meitner Institut GmbH, Berlin, Germany — 3Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratory, Leiden University, Netherlands

Previously, we had established that in heavy-fermion UPd2− xSn, x = 0.15, crystallographic disorder from Pd vacancies controls the electronic transport properties, such as the resistivity exhibiting a negative temperature derivative dρ /dT below room temperature. Here, we present a study of the magnetically ordered state of this material by means of thermodynamic investigations and neutron diffraction experiments. The material crystallizes in a cubic Fm3m structure with lattice parameter a = 6.7926 Å and is antiferromagnetically ordered below TN = 26.6 K with ordering wave vector (000). Analogous to the transport properties, our thermodynamic and neutron diffraction experiments suggest that the magnetic properties are also strongly affected by the crystallographic disorder. We discuss the behavior of this system in context with that of other disordered U compounds. This work was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG under grant nr. SU 229/1-1
