Improved quantum potentials for strongly correlated plasmas — •Alexei V. Filinov1,2 and Michael Bonitz11FB Physik, Universität Rostock, D-18051 Rostock, Germany — 2Institute of Spectroscopy RAS, Moscow Region, Troitsk, Russia

Effective two-body potentials for electron-ion plasmas are analyzed. Such potentials which have been previously derived by Kelbg [1] and others [2] capture the basic quantum diffraction effects and are exact in the weak coupling limit. We investigate the accuracy of the Kelbg potential (KP) and the off-diagonal Kelbg potential (ODKP) comparing them to the exact solution of the off-diagonal two-particle Bloch equation. Further, we introduce an improved potential [3] which is applicable to strong coupling while retaining the simple structure of the KP.

First, we consider application of quantum effective potentials to strongly correlated electron-proton and electron-electron pairs. For the electron-electron interaction two possible cases of spin projections (triplet and singlet states) are taken into account.

Second, we apply the quantum pair potentials in path integral Monte Carlo simulations and quasiclassical molecular dynamics.
