Preparation and nano-structuring of Sr2FeMoO6 thin films — •Nicole Auth1, Diana Sanchez2, and Gerhard Jakob1 — 1Johannes Gutenberg Universität, Mainz — 2Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC
Since the first report of room temperature magneto-resistance in polycrystalline Sr2MoFeO6 [ 1 ] a lot of effort has been put into the preparation of thin films of this compound. Yet up to know it has not been possible to outdo the performance of perovskite manganites which, due to their TC below room temperature, are considered less suitable for application. Nevertheless the potential of this material has been manifested by a large number of publications mainly addressing bulk material properties.
Lately, the use of a buffer layer to improve the crystallinity as well as
the magnetic properties of Sr2MoFeO6 thin films has been proposed
[ 2 ]. Apart from studying these systems, we take a close look
on thin film properties compared to bulk material revealing inherent
differences in parameter dependencies. By nano-structuring thin film
samples we also address the question of Sr2MoFeO6 prospects in
nanoscale devices.
