The PISA experiment - first results — •Arkadiusz Bubak — Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany — University of Silesia, Poland

The goal of PISA is the study of spallation reactions induced by energetic protons in the range from 200-2500 MeV. In order to cover a large range of measured particles, dedicated detectors are employed: Bragg-curve detectors, Si-telescops and phoswitch detectors. The experiment is carried out at the internal beam of COSY Jülich.

In a first test run three diffrent targets Ni, C, Au and 1.9 GeV proton beam energy was used. The intermediate mass and charge reaction products were detected by time-of-flight and Bragg-curve methods, respectively. Two such setups of detectors was placed at 15 and 120 degree.

The lightest particles e.g. hydrogen and helium isotopes were detected by scintillation detectors and by cooled silicon telescopes.

The results from this measurement will be presented.
