Recent studies of energetic particle parameters in the inner part of the Jovian magnetosphere reveal pronounced changes in the electron pitch angle distribution (PAD). Comparing Hubble Space Telescope observations and the ionospheric footpoints of the PAD boundary, indicates a good correlation with a belt of diffuse emissions equatorward of the main auroral oval. Furthermore, the associated precipitation energy flux at the boundary is compatible with the brightness range of these diffuse emissions. An explanation for such a boundary is the enhanced scattering of trapped particles towards smaller pitch angles, caused by wave-particle interactions. We estimated the diffusion coefficient for pitch angle scattering by whistler waves, to find that the conditions for strong pitch angle diffusion are fulfilled. To better constrain physical processes originating the PAD boundary, studies of the adiabatic invariants behavior compared with predictions from current jovian models are developed.
