Kinetic modelling of edge plasmas — •Konstantin Matyash and Ralf Schneider — Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, EURATOM Association, 17491 Greifswald

A variety of effects being important both in fusion and low-temperature plasmas are studied using a multispecies electrostatic 3D3V Particle-in-Cell code including Monte Carlo collisions. The study of methane plasmas is of special interest both for industry (growth of diamond-like carbon films) and for fusion (chemical sputtering of carbon and tritium co-deposition). ECR heated and capacitively coupled RF discharges in methane are therefore studied in detail. Adding dust particles as additional species allows one to analyse quasi-ordered complex dusty plasmas. Details of plasma dynamics for all systems (both time- and space-resolved) will be presented and comparison with experiments will be done.
