Search for Rare Charmless Hadronic B Meson Decays — •Stephan Otto — Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics, TU Dresden, 01062 Dresden

Since 1999, the BABAR B meson factory at the asymmetric electron-positron collider PEP-II at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center has collected more than 140×106 BB meson pairs. This amount of data enables us to investigate B meson decays with expected branching fractions even smaller than 10−6. Of particular interest are bd and bs quark transitions, exclusively described by “penguin” topology diagrams, which have strong impact on CP asymmetries and are also sensitive to new physics. We present a search for resulting decays such as B0→φη, B0→φπ0, B0→φρ0 and B0→φω, based on a data sample of 80 fb−1 and applying a “blinded” analysis strategy.
