Observation of inclusive D0 and D0 production and search for open charm-anticharm pair production at COMPASS — •Nicolas Dedek — CERN, CH-1211 Geneve 23

The COMPASS experiment at CERN investigates the interaction of a polarized muon beam of 160 GeV/c momentum and a polarized nucleon target in order to measure the polarized gluon structure function of the nucleon. The key reaction is the photon gluon fusion into charm anticharm.

First results on the inclusive production of D and D0 mesons (via the sequential decay DD0 π, D0Kπ) have been obtained. The search for associated production of D0 Λc and D0 D0 has been started.
