The Jet-Trigger is an upgrade of the existing level 1 LAr Calorimeter Trigger of the H1 experiment. While the existing LAr Calorimeter Trigger uses a global summing scheme the Jet-Trigger looks for local energy depositions. By this it is possible to use lower thresholds compared to the existing system and also to better exploit the topological signature of the specific physics channels. In order to make a decision for each bunch crossing the concept of the Jet-Trigger is based on massively parallel hardware. In the hardware significant local energy depositions in the calorimeter ("jets") are searched and thus summing up of noise distributed over large areas is avoided. The Jet-Trigger generates trigger elements on the bases of an energy sorted list of jets and allows for freely programmable conditions between the jet energies and positions.
