Acoustic detection of UHE neutrinos I: Studies of Piezoelectric Sensors by FE Methods — •Karsten Salomon and Gisela Anton, Kay Graf, Jürgen Hössl, Alexander Kappes, Timo Karg, Uli Katz, Philip Kollmannsberger, Sebastian Kuch, Robert Lahmann, Rainer Ostasch — Universität

Simulation of piezoelectric sensors for acoustic detection: In addition to optical detection we plan to equip two ANTARES strings with hydrophones for acoustic particle detection.
Hydrophones contain piezo electric sensors to detect acoustic signals. Simulations were performed using FE (finite element) methods to describe the behaviour of these piezo electric sensors. Results are presented and its implications on acoustic detection are discussed. Supported by th BMBF (05 CN2WE1/2)
