Metric-affine gauge theory of gravity (MAG): Prolongation and new classes of exact solutions — •Friedrich W. Hehl1 and Peter Baekler21Univ.zu Köln and Univ.of Missouri-Columbia — 2Fachhochschule Düsseldorf

The spacetime of MAG is represented by a 4-dimensional differential manifold carrying a metric (“weak” Newton-Einstein type gravity) and an independent linear connection (“strong” Yang-Mills type gravity). We study a gravitational Lagrangian that is at most quadratic in nonmetricity, torsion, and curvature. We start from known Schwarzschild type solutions carrying torsion but with vanishing nonmetricity and derive, by prolongation methods, new solutions with nonmetricity. A typical new solution will be displayed and explained. See P. Baekler & F.W. Hehl (in preparation), F. Gronwald & F.W. Hehl, Erice Proceedings, arXiv:gr-qc/95 , F.W. Hehl & A. Macías, Int. J. Mod.
