Generation of short 1.7 keV x-ray radiation from laser-produced plasma jets — •Nadja Vogel und Dmitrii Nikitine — Optical Spectroscopy and Molecule Physics, Department of Physics, University of Technology Chemnitz, 09107 Chemnitz, Germany

We present results where highly supersonic plasma jets and accelerated plasma fragments are generated by interaction of intense laser pulse with a metallic target (Al, Cu, Ta, W) in gas atmosphere (air, Ar) and vacuum. The formation of jets and well-localized plasma "balls" occur, when a strong forward shock from a main laser pulse and a reverse shock from a prepulse meet together. Interferometric and shadowgraphic measurements with high temporal (100 ps) and spatial resolution (1 µm) yield information about the formation and evolution of plasma jets and plasma "balls". Measurements of a x-ray radiation from well-collimated jets by interaction of laser pulse with a metallic target in vacuum have been done by means of picosecond x-ray streak camera. Short x-ray pulse with a duration of 100ps in spectral range of 1.1 - 1.7 keV had been detected in small space angle of 10.
