Results concerning the optimization of X-ray photons yield of a laser-plasma-based source are reported.

The laser, a 1kHz repetition rate, 55fs pulse duration, 3.5mJ energy per pulse Ti:Sa, was focused on a tape target of different materials (titanium, copper and chromium were employed) at intensities higher than 1017W/cm2. Kα and Kβ lines and Bremsstrahlung radiation were excited. A parabola or a long focal lens were used as focusing elements. An X-ray yield of about 6 · 1010ph/s was found for titanium target.
