Novel Solid-State Optical Concentrators for the Use in Solid State Lasers — •Adalbert Ding1, Bernd Ozygus2, and Sven-Uwe Urban11Optisches Institut, TU Berlin — 2Smart Laser, Berlin

A number of imaging (lenses) and non imaging solid state devices have been used to optimize the input of the pump radiation into the laser crystal. Pumping with flashlamps usually requires an imaging approach, using extended light sources usually require solid state imging devices with either plane or non-spherical boundaries. We have developed a number of focussing respective concentrating devices for the use as the last concentrator stage in solid state lasers. These devices a simple surface boundary and are therefore easily produced by standard optical working procedures. Optimal devices have been designed using ray tracing programs and manufactured. The efficiency of the different devices have been compared and experimentally investigated using different pump sources.
