Optimisation of a Precision Tracking System for the ILC — •Steven John Aplin1, Ties Behnke1, and Rolf-Dieter Heuer1,21DESY, Notkestrasse 85, 22607 Hamburg — 2Institut fur Experimentalphysik, Universitat Hamburg, Lurup Chaussee 149, 22761 Hamburg

The next large project within high energy physics will be the international linear electron positron collider ILC, able to reach energies of 1 TeV and deliver luminosity in excess of 1034cm−2s−1. In order to meet the demands of the physics programme such an accelerator can deliver, any detector will have to incorporate a precision tracking system able to provide an excellent momentum resolution, of the order δ(1/p)∼ 10−5 four times better than acheived hitherto, over a large dynamic range and angular coverage. This talk will present findings obtained from optimisation studies of a tracking system which incorporates a large volume TPC. The investigation shows the performance of such a tracking system using the benchmark process e+eHZ employing linear collider software tools.
