Iran’s Missile Capabilities — •Robert Schmucker — Schmucker Technologie, Klenzestrasse 14, 80469 München

During recent years, Iran’s missile capabilities were rapidly improving. The most recent activities for Shahab 3 show that these missiles’ range were progressively increased and cover now distances up to app. 1.500 km. The configuration displayed during the 2005 September parade allows an assessment to reconstruct the performance plus also the type of the potential weapon. Furthermore, there are indications of a new system with even increased capabilities.

An overall assessment of Iran’s missile capabilities regarding cruise missiles and, more important, ballistic missiles describes the different systems, its histories and its performances. This leads to a description of the procedures used for missile realization, the connections to the countries supporting Iran in this area, and the potential route for future work. This allows some considerations on Iran’s long range intentions in missilery and weapons.
