The restriction of storage space and analysis capabilities suggest to introduce an additional step between the initial reconstruction of the raw data and the final analysis, represented by the production of the so-called Derived Physics Data (DPD). Data reduction can be reached by different means ranging from logical combinations of event filters up to dedicated methods to reduce the event size. The various types of derived physics data used in the ATLAS-experiment are presented, focusing in particular on the recent application in cosmic data analysis, in first collisions and in performance studies.
