We have investigated laser driven ion acceleration using mass limited isolated targets. In order to remove the influence from any adjacent objects we store single glass spheres of a diameter about 15 microns or single lycophyte spores with a diameter of about 24 micro in a modified Paul trap. The MBI high field TiSA Laser is focused on the target with an intensity about 5*1019 W/cm2. The accelerated protons and ions are analyzed in a Thomson spectrometer. We present first experimental results of proton and ion energies which are limited to 1MeV and show monoenergetic features. The experimental results are compared with 2D-PIC simulations and an analytical model.

This work is partly supported by the DFG SFB/ Transregio 18 project.
