Dusty plasma dynamics in the presence of a static magnetic field — •Torben Ott and Michael Bonitz — Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Institut für Theoretische Physik und Astrophysik, Leibnizstrasse 15, 24098 Kiel

The dynamics of charged particles in the presence of a static magnetic field is of prime interest in many areas of plasma physics, including fusion plasmas. In these plasmas, however, correlations are usually assumed to play a minor role. In dusty plasmas, it should be possible to study an essentially one-component plasma of charged dust grains whose dynamics are strongly coupled under the influence of a magnetic field on experimentally feasible spatio-temporal scales. The magnetic field is expected to influence one-particle properties such as diffusion as well as collective motions, both of which are additionally dependent on the correlation between particles. In this contribution, we present results from molecular dynamics simulations on the influence of a perpendicular magnetic field on monolayers of dusty plasmas modelled by a Yukawa interaction.
