Mellin Moments of Heavy Flavor Contributions to F2(x,Q2) at NNLO. — •Sebastian Klein — RWTH Aachen, Aachen, Germany

Precision tests of QCD based on deeply inelastic scattering data require a precise knowledge of the heavy quark contributions to the structure functions of the proton. I report on the calculation of fixed moments of the NNLO heavy flavor corrections to the structure function F2 in the limit of a small charm–quark mass. The correct treatment of these terms allows for a more precise determination of the parton distribution functions and the strong coupling constant from HERA data, which is an essential input for LHC physics. Additionally, a first completely independent confirmation of a significant part of the moments of the 3–loop splitting functions, governing the scale evolution of the parton densities, has been performed. Finally, I will briefly comment on the calculational techniques which have been developed in the course of this work.
