The XENON100 experiment: status and results — •Teresa Marrodan Undagoitia — Universität Zürich, Schweiz

XENON100 is a 62kg active volume experiment for dark matter search located at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory in Italy. The detector is a two-phase liquid xenon TPC (Time Projection Chamber) where the produced light and charge are detected by photomultipliers. Xenon has the advantage of combining a high WIMP (Weakly Interacting Massive Particle) sensitivity with an excellent self-shielding capability for background reduction. The detector is running since end of 2009 and has already produced important science results. Due to its low-radioactivity materials and its large mass, it will able to test new regions in WIMP-nucleus cross section and WIMP mass parameter space. In this talk, the experiment, its calibration as well as dark matter results will be presented.
