Measurement of beauty and charm production in deep inelastic scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERAIan C. Brock1, •Ramoona Shehzadi1, Markus Juengst1, Philipp Roloff2, and Vladyslav Libov21Physikalisches institut, University of Bonn — 2DESY and University of Hamburg

The study of heavy flavour production in ep collisions is one of the main research topics at HERA. In two recent analyses the production of heavy quarks in deep inelastic scattering has been studied with the ZEUS detector using the full HERA II dataset. In one of these analyses, the heavy flavour events were identified using electrons from semileptonic decays. The fractions of events containing the heavy quarks were extracted from a likelihood fit using variables sensitive to electron identification as well as to semileptonic decays. In the second analysis, the heavy flavour content in events with a jet was extracted using the decay length significance and invariant mass of the secondary vertices. Total and differential cross sections were measured and compared with next-to-leading-order QCD calculations and Monte Carlo models. The beauty and charm contributions to the proton structure function F2, were extracted from the double-differential cross sections.
