We present high-resolution simulations of the compact galaxy group "Stephan's Quintet" including radiative cooling, star formation, supernova feedback and magnetic fields. The simulations were performed with the N-body/smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) code Gadget. Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is implemented using the SPH method. Based on previous models of the Stephan's Quintet we further investigate the morphology of the colliding system focusing on the temperature, X-ray emission and in particular the magnetic field structure.

In order to improve the parametric models for the magnetic field of galaxies, additional studies are done. Therefore different components of the field are investigated: the coherent large-scale field and the turbulent small-scale field. Future studies are planned concerning isolated and interacting galaxies.
