Atomic data for atmosphere modelling of neutron stars with intense magnetic fields — •Christoph Schimeczek, Thorsten Kersting, and Günter Wunner — 1. Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Stuttgart, 70550 Stuttgart

X-ray absorption spectra of highly magnetised neutron stars like 1E 1207.4-5209 show several line features, whose origin still cannot be explained satisfactorily, due to the lack of atomic data at magnetic field strengths of about 108 T. Our group has developed and optimized several tools to describe the properties of all atoms from hydrogen to iron, i.e. their wavefunctions, binding energies, bound-bound oscillator strengths and bound-free cross sections as well as partition functions in such fields. Thus we can provide all relevant data to experts in the field of modelling highly magnetised stellar atmospheres.
