Progress towards a new Bose-Fermi 2D quantum gas mixture experiment of rubidium and potassium is presented. A dual microscope objective setup will be used to achieve in situ single site resolution for manipulation and detection in optical lattices. In order to investigate the phase diagrams of different lattices geometries with superimposed arbitrarily shaped optical potentials, in particular disorder induced phases, a spatial light modulator (SLM) will be used. Transport of atoms between separate 3D MOT and science chambers will be provided by magnetic coils moving on a linear actuator, with additional chambers allowing the mixing of arbitrary species in the future. New technologies for ultra-high vacuum, ultra-stable laser systems and compact high power magnetic coils are presented along with the progress towards magnetic transport of a thermal cloud of rubidium.
