Studies of B-hadron identification for Z+b production with ATLAS detector — •Rohin Narayan, Tatsiana Klimkovich, and Andre Schoening — Physikalisches Institut Universtiy of Heidelberg

The associated production of Z-bosons with b-quarks is an important Standard Model process which is sensitive to gluon and b-quark densities of the proton. The process is also a background for other Standard Model processes as well as searches beyond Standard Model (e.g. Supersymmetry).

The conventional method in measuring the cross section involves b-jet tagging to identify events. However this introduces a significant uncertainty in the final measurement due to the use of jets. The present method exploits the identification of b-jets using electrons coming from the semi-leptonic decay of B-hadrons which is foreseen to reduce uncertainties in the final measurement. The Z-bosons are identified through their decay into electron positron pairs .

The performance and figures of merit of this method is presented in this talk
