Search for ADD Extra Dimensions in Dimuon events with the CMS Detector — •Michael Brodski, Thomas Hebbeker, Arnd Meyer, Tobias Pook, Stefan Antonius Schmitz, and Sebastian Thüer — III Physikalisches Institut A, RWTH Aachen

Additional dimensions can play an important role for new physics. In the ADD (Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, Dvali) model, large extra spatial dimensions can make the Planck scale directly accessible at the Large Hadron Collider. One possible signature are highly energetic muon pairs from the decay of virtual gravitons produced in pp collisions.

A search for deviations between the data collected by the CMS detector in 2012 and the Standard Model prediction is performed. Different aspects of the background determination and its systematic uncertainties are presented. The obtained results are used for setting limits on the parameters of the ADD model.
